I have been obsessed with cabinets of curiosity lately. I created a faux taxidermy butterfly wall inspired by some of the exhibits at the Akin Free Library nearby. While I am not a fan of actual taxidermy or dead creatures in my interior design, a faux version was a craft project I was happy to take on.
Having an art installation using multiple small frames allowed me to address the oddly shaped wall in the guest room.
I shot a bunch of high-resolution photos of butterflies at the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. Then, I printed them on good quality photo paper and cut them out.

What a whimsical and eco-friendly project! For anyone trying something similar, using cabinet refinishing techniques to prep and protect your frames can make your faux taxidermy wall not only stylish but also durable for years to come.
