Pawling & Nearby Halloween Guide

Updated: Oct 26, 2022

What to do on this spookiest of weekends

In Pawling this weekend? Explore the spooky around town. Start with the Akin Free Library for a Cabinet of Curiosities of insects, dinosaur skulls, and taxidermy that may or may not come back alive at night…

Then travel up to Wassaic for the quirky, scary, fun Haunted Mill event at The Wassaic Project. It is part haunted house, part art show, for all ages.

Across the road, explore the charcoal kilns dating back to the 1800s that are hidden in the woods. They look like historic alien caves that might have been the site of a sacrifice or two.

You can stay for the Wassaic Project’s Monster’s Ball (where Adam and I have spent the last two Halloweens) or return to Pawling for an 80’s style Halloween party at Daryl’s House.

Do your kids or fur babies want to get in on the fun? Pawling Recreation’s Howl-o-Ween party takes place on Saturday, where pets and children can get dressed up and strut their stuff at the parade. Crafts, slime and a photo station at this party. There is also a Trick-or_treat trail from 12 PM - 2 PM (registration required).

More family fun can be had at Dykeman's farm up the road from us. They have warm cider doughnuts, lots of treats, hot dogs, free hayrides, pumpkins and Mason's madhouse to get crazy in.

Are you looking for the best places to trick-or-treat? On Friday, Pawling Elementary school has your candy from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. The Village of Pawling has trick-or-treating from 11 AM - 3 PM, along with a town scavenger hunt. Register at Pawling Recreation.

Does it all sound fun? Happy Halloween!
